OVERFLIGHT / LANDING PERMITS

Professional Aviation Services maintains a database of contacts throughout the world specifically for overflight and landing permits.  The majority of our acquaintances come from previous experience.  If we haven’t been there, we know who to get in touch with.

There are numerous variables associated with the procurement of permits.

The majority of the World is open for business and can process requests very quickly.  There are locations, however, that do require specific lead times.

The lead times can vary from 2 business days up to 8 business days for a myriad of reasons.  Additionally, depending on extended holidays such as Carnival, Hajj, elections, etc., an application can occasionally take even more time.  We are proud of our ability to in most cases, circumvent these potential delays in processing.

There are several countries that are especially difficult.  Without going into specific details, suffice it to say that the majority of lengthy approvals are usually due to politics, religion, or lack of technology.  In most cases, if a request is submitted through proper channels or a local agent, it can be processed in less time than the published requirement.

Some factors affecting approval:

  • Nature of business
  • Nature of cargo
  • Current political situation
  • Transit from Israel to Arab Countries
  • Less than 1 year remaining on passport
  • Visas
  • Required Insurance

 Difficult permits:

  • Afghanistan
  • Cuba (landing only)
  • Diego Garcia
  • India
  • Iran
  • Iraq (landing only)
  • Japan
  • Johnston Atoll
  • Kwajalein
  • Libya
  • Midway Island
  • North Korea
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Shemya

It is important to note that overflight is synonymous with “Navigation” fees.  Some countries simply charge for transit while others charge for use of their navigation facilities.

By far, the most expensive permits in terms of overflight, navigation, and landing are Japan, Russia, and China.

Professional Aviation Services will make every attempt to procure your permits in the most expeditious manner possible.  We will also use all of our resources to accommodate any request but keep in mind that some restrictions are impossible to get around and in some extreme cases, applications may be denied.
